Hey all, Tiny the non-Hutt here in the Hutt lounge. I have permission from the Hutt himself to post this here, as it will be an on-going project of mine. Whether it gets implemented is not up to me, but it's rather enjoyable doing this, and I think it'd be cool to get some color variation on the furniture.

I've started working on a colorization project for SWG. What this basically means is: I'm trying to introduce color options for furniture.

Because furniture colors work differently than other items (such as clothes and armor) each color requires a different item, so a color palette isn't possible. However, a dropdown menu is (like when you're crafting a lightsaber or a garden). The dropdown menu also ensures there's no additional clutter in the crafting tool.

So far I've been working on the modern set and a few rugs. I'll eventually get around to all the furniture sets, some take longer than others.

Note: this isn't top level work, these are simple re-textures. But by doing this work, it would allow a proper texture artist to make multiple versions for the furniture and implement them easily.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated, or if you just want to see some furniture in a specific color I can do that too. It's fairly simple to change colors.

OMG I want! Must have that turquoise furniture in my SWG life lol. Awesome job! I really hope it gets implemented. The rugs are awesome too!

Yep, this stuff looks amazing! Some of it I would love to see as unlocks through a quest, kind of like RIS for AS.

Added in some variations for the technical set (look in the first post). All new rugs can be seen in the second post. I'll look into adding more variations, all the round ones are the same size.

Sounds good, that'll give me time to create more variations. I have a pretty good idea on how to implement it, so hopefully that won't be too difficult.

Jabba the Hutt hologram! This is just a prototype, It's dark because of the textures. Working on that. I need to try and hologramize a few things, but I think I need to physically scale some models down for it to work properly.



For reference with no model scaling:


Don't mind the colors, was just curious to see if I could.


EDIT: Added a tattoo style to Zabraks. This is the first attempt so it's not too great. I have to keep the shape of the face in mind when creating it, which is a lot harder than I thought it'd be. I'll get the hang of it after a few tries I imagine.

I think it'd be possible to add a lot of the Zabrak styles to SMC/NS, but I'd have to look into it as the textures are build up differently for the two races.

Elegant Furniture update:


Too lazy to take pictures of all the furniture, so this is what you get. I darkened the seating too, went better with the bright colors in my opinion.

That's all the furniture sets, just need to do the individual pieces that doesn't go with anything.

omg ! I wish I had your skills, the work you've done looks amazing. cant wait to see this in-game. I wonder if similar techniques can be applied to the new speeders as the current customizing option wont work for them, but anyways...great job!

Thanks for the kind words. The speeders take more work than the furniture, but it's certainly possible. For now you'll have to be content with this, LIGHTNING SABER:



Needs to be edited so it doesn't cut off abruptly, but it was more to see if it would work or not. Won't be hard to fix, but then again, not sure if there's any reason to.
