Hey Mig, you did not follow the instructions. You are to install to the default location c:\SwgRogueOne\ You must have moved the files or installed to other location.

Here is the link to follow,

Ihad the same problem. gm's said to delete the file options.cfg from the rogueone directory and try launching again ... that worked. Not being overly confidant here ... I renamed the options.cfg file something else ... "just in case" and then ran the launcher again.

Savage - actually, that link says in step 2.b "select the folder path." Perhaps update that to specifically say "you must install to the default location?"

The install guide only applies to those who have not installed the launcher. I currently just did a fresh install following the directions that I wrote and it works as intended.

If you have a different version of the launcher installed there is a chance when you update from say 1.4x or 1.5x to 1.6x that there may be some issues in file locations. Now if that happens then you will need to backup your TRE and Profiles directory and then uninstall the current launcher and install the new launcher and copy back your TRE and profile folders to the new install location.

If you don't copy the TRE and profile directories you will have to redownload the TRE files as well as resetup your UI and macros.

My experience as a new player shows that for a typical user, location can still matter. I have never installed RogueOne before, but have played other SWGEMU servers.

My steps -
1. click on the "download launcher" button at the top center of your website.
2. Choose the NGE Icons - FULL INSTALL version.
3. Open the "install instructions" link (same as the one referenced in this thread)
4. follow those instructions.
a. since it says choose my install location, E:\Program Files(x86)\SWGRogueOne was selected.
5. discover that at that location, the launcher cannot function without administrator rights. Set shortcut to run as administrator.
6. copy TRE files in accordance with instructions.
7. get errors that it could not locate the appearance files (they were not created during install or by launcher or game client - no appearance folder existed in the install folder; this was likely due to the default rights windows sets within Program Files)
8. Find this thread and see the message earlier about default locations being essential.
9. Uninstall and Reinstall to default location. Repeat step 6.
10. Successfully able to launch the game.

On systems where a developer or user has changed the default permissions on the Program Files folder, installs there may not cause issues. Users would only run into this issue on systems with the default Windows permissions.

EDIT: my SWGEMU (basilisk) install is another folder under Program Files (x86) - so this problem is unique to the Rogue One installer.

Also might want to try right clicking on the launcher icon and go to "Properties" then under the tab "Compatibility" check "Run as Administrator" then restart your launcher.
